Adios DR
This is a monumental occasion; an unprecedented event which has been topped by no other! Unmatched, unsurpassed…my first blog entry! Wow!
Thanks to Ade, I am posting my thoughts and musings on the internet for all who may care to take the time to read. Many of you will know that I am on my honeymoon with new (first) wife Ade; not to say there’ll be a second or third wife for that matter-God forbid. Well, we are coming to the end of what has been a beautiful scape of space and time.
I spent this morning stretching with Ade, in which she intermittently slapped at random bugs, discussed bible topics turned into fictional works (The Shack) and prepared lunch for the plane journey-saltfish, coconut seasoned rice and fried plantain…mmm. Fast forward and I’m now sitting here at the laptop with the hum of an overhead fan, the distant murmur of Spanish tones and occasional sounds of a child’s voice; the perfect time for reflection…
Here’s what I have learned and affirmed:
- Show grace to one another at all times. Regardless of who is right (usually I) or wrong (usually…). Lacking inspiration for grace? Look to the act of God through the risen one, Christ
- Enjoy every moment; laugh when you feel it, eat good food when you’re hungry, see sights when there is opportunity. Enough said
- Take time to be still. No phone conversation, no music, no TV. Just you and all that lies within
- If you are blessed with a special mate, take time to hold them, kiss them and just be lovingly affectionate
- Take time to immerse yourself in God’s word, prayer and being open to the holy spirit, the great counsellor
- Correct in love…always. No need for harsh words, or angry and accusatory tones. Remember, it’s not what you say but how you say what matters sometimes
- Spread love. No hippy, 70s free love vibe with weed and acid but a sincere, pure love for all humanity.
I won’t be cheesy and have a top ten list because life is not always evened into neat packages!
I’m done.
God bless All,
Stay posted for the next entry

Withdrawal symptoms
We’re part of the way through the second week of our honeymoon and all the veg I’ve been eating has made me more energetic and alert, but the sun has got me mad tired, and the E-numbers and processed sugar withdrawal has made a bit awkward to live with at times.
In light of this I think I might try and follow in Darren’s footsteps and eat more vegetables when I get back to London, but I’m not planning on cutting sugar out of my diet completely, I’ll just bake (even) more instead of buying shop bought and try and find healthier alternatives to my ingredients… and in regards to going veggie, I don’t think that’s happening any time soon, I’ll just be cutting my red meat eating down to two or three times a month.
That asides, I watch Darren exercise every morning. It reminds me of when I was little and Uncle Sunmolu would visit and he’d do one-armed press ups with me sitting on his back. I used to think he might just be the strongest man in the world… secretly though, like a black superman because he didn’t look like the weightlifters on TV. So, watching Darren in the mornings has finally urged me to start exercising when we get back, not jump into a regime for pros then feel miserable at how much I ache, but build up gradually. I’ve started so many regimes, so many times in the past, and just not kept them up for more than a couple of weeks or so.
Note: If you’re out there and in the same boat as me exercise and food wise, join me for an online exercise regime that I’m going to gather from websites across the net and in my attempts to make meals that contain less fat, sugars and E-numbers and cost less than the shop bought versions. If you come up with any good recipies, e-mail then to me too. I’m open to suggestions. The reason I’m inviting you to join me is not because I have a plan so wonderful that you too must partake in it to enjoy a fuller life, it’s because I need support in this. Totally selfish motives!
Kelli, I think I’ll be visiting your blog a little more often again, and when I get back I’ll finally make and send you that hat I promised some time last year. I am so going to need to be on a make and do tip. There’s a market not too far from where we’re moving to that sells material so I will finally be learning to sew too… I’m itching to try out some of the tutorials on your site.
That’s enough for today. Ladies, I’ll fix a date for us to go to that Salsa class as promised and e-mail or send a text to you all to let you know at least a week in advance. Until then, please enjoy some wedding photos here, here and here, courteousy of some good friends and Facebook.
Until then,
Mizpah,
