A year has passed…

August 19th, 2010

… since we got married and we’re both still alive, in love and married. Praise the Lord!

So now for a quick catch up… we’re currently in Madrid for our anniversary (thank you Gazelle, mwah!) and have been for the past 4 days. I’ve just woken up from a nap (what’s new?) and decided to have my password resent to me. Yes, the reason I haven’t blogged in ages was because I couldn’t remember my password, I was convinced I could, and I kept typing the wrong one in. Shame on me. Anyway, I’m back now. I’m sure Gazelle will be back soon because since we’ve been married, we obviously moved in together, he’s been finishing his MA in Education (he finished July just gone), he did some work at Second Wave (spending the first two weeks of his Summer holiday there and possibly his Saturdays outsde of term time for the foreseeable future) and when we get back he’ll be doing some last minute running around to finish marketing the Saturday school he’s setting up with Figures (that’s “Mr Figures” to you) the maths teacher. That’ll be launching early September, in Deptford, so let me know if you’re up for attending the day to show support or sending your child to the Saturday school when it opens and I’ll bug Gazelle to get in touch ;)

Totally random, but - oh my goodness!!! I completely forgot about the basil plant Lady Floydy gave us. I hope it hasn’t died. I guess I’ll find out when I get back tomorrow. We’re going round theirs for dinner next week and it would be sure embarassing  to say, “Guess what, after keeping that plant alive for a month or so, (which is pretty good for me if I do say so myself as I’m not the most green fingered person in the world), I completely forgot to water it for a week…” Ah well… some things you can’t help.

That asides, I’ve decided to bake more when we get back. I’ve not had the energy to do much of it lately (for a few months – to the point where Gazelle has actually asked me to start baking again… I know!!!) and have really missed it. Spending 5 days without your oven can remind you how much you miss the simple pleasures in life. Don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone and all that, but I have spent the time catching up on my reading which has been brilliant.

Crafting - I had to give you a quick crafting catch up. All I’ve done is make the green neck warmer above. Since March… I know, pitiful isn’t it, but I definitely will be making and posting a few more things on here… I know I said that last time, but things have changed since the last time. If you haven’t heard by now, I’m five months – yes FIVE (count it) months – pregnant. I didn’t say anything the last time I blogged because I probably wasn’t at the time. Who knows. I’m I’ve been looking at all sorts of cute baby things I need to make and I’m getting really excited as I’m now counting down in weeks (well, I’ve been counting down in weeks since week 12 when I was meant to get a huge burst of energy that made me feel like superwoman – they lied to me). Oh and before you ask we don’t know if we’re having a girl or a boy – Mr Traditional here wouldn’t let me back into the sonographer’s room to find out. He didn’t want to know. However, the baby does have Gazelle’s head shape. That much we do know! :D

As for projects on the go, I’m part way through sewing a paisley cotton scarf for Gazelle, knitting a hat for myself and planning the nursery with Sky (of course Gazelle has had his input – how dare you suggest otherwise?), trying to figure out where all my crafting stuff is going to go now I have to give up the ’spare’ room and trying to figure out how and when I’ll find the time to make all the things I plan to for the nursery and the new baby… I feel some craft evenings coming on.

Anyhoo, gotta go now, we’re heading off for a picnic and I’ve been keeping poor Gazelle waiting for the past half hour (or more) that I’ve been writing this entry.

I’ll most definitely be back soon.

Adios my lovelies!

P.S. I’m blaming all my forgetfulness and tiredness on the bump.

Will work for sleep

December 2nd, 2009

It’s been over a month since either of us last blogged. No we haven’t abandoned the blog… we”ve just been busy. Very busy. Busy to the point where Darren can’t stay awake and I can’t get to sleep.

Since the last blog I’ve been to 2 funerals, been prescribed steroids for my scalp (I decided I’d rather just keep washing my hair all the time instead of resorting to that), given up that stupid gluten free diet (I’d rather have an itchy scalp than never eat a chocolate cake again… the sacrifices we make for the things we love, enh?) and managed to figure out how to validate a php form, customisation complete with error messages without having to use Javascript (which is also a bit of a Fred in my books). Speaking of which, Fred (our cooker) and I have almost worked out all of our differences and have been getting along splendidly. We even baked a chocolate cake that didn’t burn. Yay Team!

Monday saw the slow down (but not the end) of a project I’ve been working on for months, but my body is so wired into staying up late to work I find it hard to unwind when I get home… that is unless I don’t move from the spot I’m in once I finish dinner.

I decided to spend tonight knitting. Yes, I’ll admit I did some work, but not as much as I could have… why, because I’ve got a headache. If any you’ve known me for long enough and remember the exhausted Summer of 2005 where migraines were abound, sweets were enough to make me throw up and I didn’t attend many a social gathering for fear that the people around me might not appreciate me throwing up on their new shoes, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Yes I’ve got one of those headaches, the “my eye hurts, sinus is congested on that side of my head and it sounds almost like I’m wheezing” headaches. I’ve already been unwell this week, had a few headaches last week, dabbled in St John Wort just to get to sleep on Sunday night – after hyperventilating in the midle of a Church service (please do not ask why)…and I’ve been having random dreams, e.g. like house-sitting for a friend at work – but nothing as weird as Fi’s corn dream… that was WEIRD!!!

Anyway, I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling more tired just trying to explain how tired I am, and  the more I think about how tired I am I remember how much there still is to do. Where’s  my note pad when I need it? I’m going to go now. I have a busy day ahead of me tomorrow , but somehow I get the feeling I probably won’t be out of bed before 10am… Why? Well, right now, I feel nauseous – and don’t even think it, I’m not pregnant and if one more person asks when I will be I’ll…. I don’t know what I’ll do… I’ll… I’ll… I think I’ll go and iron one of Darren’ s shirts to get rid of a bit more energy so I won’t lie awake for an hour before the sandman comes to visit, because although I’m very tired, I don’t feel very sleepy right now.

I think that’s enough ranting for one night. But before I go… just want to ask you to remember my family in your prayers. Monday was the 3 year anniversary since my cousin’s death and 1 year anniversary since Grandma’s death.

We’re off to Nigeria in three weeks for the memorial service…

Mon lo sun!

Oats have gluten?

October 16th, 2009

Day 7 of bring gluten and wheat free…

I’ve just found out that oats contain gluten and the Tesco porridge oats I’ve been using for flapjacks contain wheat!

I haven’t been wheat or gluten free this week after all.

Tonight I’m having pizza for dinner and cake for dessert…

Moving Home

September 13th, 2009

By Friday I should be moving home. Hooray! Having just been married and arriving back from honeymoon only for my wife and I to go to our parents’ houses is more than a little strange. I often wake up in the middle of night and roll over finding that the other side of the bed is cold from the absence of a human body. It sometimes feels like we threw one big party, which happened to cost the price of a barn house in Southern France, had a nice holiday and came back to only to remain as ’boyfriend’ and girlfrined’; weird! So, you can understand why I’m looking forward to picking up my golden keys. The place will be bare; bare walls, bare floors but by the grace of God, not a bare fridge.  I’m certain that Ade and I will splash the place with the colour of our relationship. I’m looking forward to it. My first place!

I call it ‘The House of Love’.

Peace out
